One of the oldest dutch towns
13 June 2022
Boshuisje XL is a holiday home for up to 8 people designed by Piet Hein Eek and Iggie Dekkers in Epse, near Deventer.
When you get out of the car the only thing you hear is singing birds and you feel a refreshing breeze of Dutch Summer touching your arms. The first thing you notice after you feel the senses being treated in a way that’s hard to achieve if you live in a city, you see the big spacious garden. There are several seating areas, a trampoline, a swing and a hot tub by Weltevree.
Of course, people who reached the age of 18 and above are still allowed to use the swing and the trampoline, but you get it: Boshuisje XL is very child-friendly. Inside they have four rooms, two with a double bed, and two dorm-style rooms (plus two bathrooms). There’s a cupboard full of board games and books and of course the surroundings offer a lot for children and their imagination. You can almost leave the digital devices at home 😉
But even if you’re staying here with a couple the house has a lot to offer: a large kitchen with all the essentials, a comfortable couch to read a book on a rainy day and a sturdy dining table to play a card game or do some writing. And in the evening, you can get into the hot tub and enjoy the lights above the outside dining area when it’s getting dark.
Epse is a small town with an interesting museum (Museum More) and even the first Loetje restaurant outside the Randstad. But you can also discover surrounding cities like Deventer and Zutphen. And National Park de Hoge Veluwe is nearby too – in case you like to go hiking or visit the Kroller Muller Museum and see their collection of Van Goghs.
We’ve only stayed here for 2 nights and it felt like a week as we were well-rested and gained lots of energy. Although we definitely could stay longer. Next time!
