The Wild Hotel by Interni in Mykonos is a visual treat. From the infinity pool to the private beach and from the gym to the suites. Everything works deep into your senses and makes you feel relax immediately.
When I arrive at The Wild Hotel on October 7th it is the first day it rains on Mykonos this summer. After checking in, I walk towards the infinity pool which has a somewhat more dramatic look due to the rain and the grey sky than these pictures, but still the view is amazing. You can see as far as the eyes can see. There are some fishing boats in the distance and two mountains behind it. And when you breathe in the city life from back home suddenly feels very far away. Like the raindrops are coming down, so is the stress in your shoulders slipping away.
All rooms are spacious and have a bohemian feel with curtains, bed linnen, sofas and tables in natural colors. Here and there you’ll see a basket for your bath towels and slippers. All the rooms look out over sea – although one room has a better view than the other. My Unique 2 Bedroom Suite has a jacuzzi on the terrace, others have a private plunge pool.
On the menu in the restaurant you’ll find tasty Greek dishes, with a modern twist. I’ve ordered the Greek meatballs with tzatziki on one evening and the other evening I had the Moussaka and a delicious typical Greek dessert. Add a glass of Greek wine, some soft background music and that phenomenal view to it and your evening is just perfect.
When I woke up the next day, the rain had disappeared and the blue sky and sun were back. The tables were outside for breakfast (an extensive buffet, with the option to order an omelette or pancakes a la carte). When I look around, I see a lot of couples, parents with a cute one-year-old son and also a family with two teenagers who play a card game in the evening. It is a five star hotel on Mykonos, the most glamorous island in Greece, but it doesn’t feel posh at all. It’s rather slippers than high heels.
Last but certainly not least they have a private beach, where guests of the hotel can enjoy the beach, the sea and the sun. They offer service, so you don’t have to walk upstairs every time you want something to drink. The water is very clear and you can see lots of fish. That’s why some people go snorkeling here. The water is pretty chilly already now in October, but of course you can’t end your summer season with a dip in that clear blue Mediterranean water.
You can also rent a car at the hotel. If you’re staying for seven days for example, you don’t have to rent it for all those days if you only want to explore the island on three of those days. You just call the reception and they bring the car to the hotel. Easy as that!
