Last week I went to London to spot all the latest addresses for The London Guide. I went from Shoreditch to Peckham and from Fitzrovia to Bankside. And I can’t wait to share all of the recommendations with you.
One of the highlights was my stay at the new Redchurch Townhouse, an intimate boutique hotel with only 37 rooms in Shoreditch. I got an upgrade to their biggest room (read: suite) with a freestanding bath, a lovely big bed and the well-known luxuries Soho House is known for. Like nine shower gels and shampoos from Cowshed next to the tub, the wonderfully soft bathrobes, seven pillows in bed and freshly baked chocolate cookies on your nightstand.
Another highlight was a visit to Brick House Bakery in Peckham. Not centrally located, but in a beautiful building where you can find the best coffee and bread. Despite the beautiful weather, the city was already full force in the Christmas mood. You can now visit ice rinks, the lights were turned on on Regent’s Street last Thursday, and everywhere you look you see Christmas trees. The perfect time to plan a city trip!
The journey itself was also enjoyable. Since this year Eurostar has a direct connection from London to Rotterdam and Amsterdam, and that means you can be home in 3 (!) hours. On the way to London, you have to change in Brussels, and it takes a little bit longer, but in 2019 that connection is likely to be direct too. The good thing is you don’t have to think of connecting flights/train rides anymore. You sit down, open your laptop with a new movie on it and a few hours later you can immediately start your city trip. Next to the station in London is the new Coal Drops Yard where the most amazing stores can be found. Like a brand new COS store where you can buy the Petite Passport Guides!

Have a great time! Love, Pauline
