This week marks the grand opening of As Seen Below, James Turrell’s 100th Skyspace at ARoS in Aarhus. It’s the perfect excuse to discover Denmark’s vibrant second city. And of course, I am also sharing some of my favorite new tips for the rest of the country.
You will find the most delicious sourdough bread at Jumbo Bakery in Aarhus. They currently have two locations in the city and are set to open a third one, Erli, this September.
Raasted is a beautiful Scandinavian lifestyle shop in Aarhus, where you can also stop by Echo Eatery for a lovely lunch.
You probably already know La Cabra from Copenhagen, or perhaps even New York, but did you know their very first café was actually located in Aarhus? That original spot is still going strong, and they have opened two additional locations in the city since.
For a progressive, artfully curated flower shop, look no further than Bloom in Aarhus.
Hakko is a matcha bar that is opening Bassin 7 this summer—a temporary coastal café right by the sea. Craving even more matcha? Head over to Studs.
If you’d rather spend your afternoon in a hip, modern take on a traditional brown bar, the newly opened Bastian is exactly what you are looking for.
Naturally, the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art should be at the top of your list if you want to explore beyond Copenhagen. This world-renowned museum is incredibly easy to reach by train.
Slightly further north lies the Rudolph Tegners Museum and Statue Park, where you can admire the powerful works of Danish sculptor Rudolph Tegner. It comes highly recommended, and is a wonderful place to explore with kids too.
The moment I laid eyes on the holiday home One Down, I instantly wanted to pack my bags for North Jutland. The view of the sea and rolling dunes straight from the living room is absolutely breathtaking.
