A week before the new homepage goes live, most of my days were spent behind the screen, polishing the final details. But of course, I also spotted plenty of cool things this week. And I can’t wait to share it with you:
I’m not completely objective, as Marjolein Delhaas is also a friend, but she makes such beautiful planners and notebooks that she deserves a mention. Especially since she launched her new collection of 2026 planners last Saturday in her Rotterdam store. The colors are just stunning, and you have to see the behind-the-scenes videos on Instagram: every piece is handmade and far from mass production.
This weekend I tested a new Fujifilm camera and stopped by at several locations in Rotterdam. All conveniently located along the Rotte river, and if you add Marjolein Delhaas’ shop to the list, you’ve got a perfect mini walking route through a lovely neighbourhood in Rotterdam. I will be adding all addresses (see underneath + openings picture) to the site this week on the Rotterdam page.
Last Saturday, Villa opened its doors, a brand-new contemporary art museum in a former engineer’s house right in the middle of Westerpark. While you’re there, walk to nearby Louf and treat yourself to a croissant.
If you’re after a travel destination that truly feels once-in-a-lifetime: the newly opened Norden Camp on the Tibetan Plateau (Chinese side) is one for the list. Just look at the photo series by Mariell A Lind Hansen, you’ll want to book immediately.
This week we added three lovely new places to the site:
A café adjacent to the ateliers of artists Ai Wei Wei and Olafur Eliasson in Berlin
A wine bar and café in Rotterdam where they serve a delicious ‘plate of the day’ for 15 euros
And a wine bar and café in Mexico City with brutalist vibes
I wrote about Maison Roz in Brittany earlier, and the 12-person holiday home overlooking an iddylic bay filled with sail boats is now officially open. Brittany is having its moment: Merci in Paris even created a shop-in-shop with items from the region, you can get there from Paris in just 3 hours by TGV, and the ancient GR34 coastal hiking trail is back on everyone’s radar as walking has become so immensely popular.
In July I already got a little sneak peek of the rooftop restaurant on top of La Fondation in Paris, but last week it officially opened its doors. The view is breathtaking, and the interior is done by US-based design studio Roman and Williams. The restaurant and hotel are located in the non-touristic 17th arrondissement with shops like Sézane and Sessún as neighbours.
What’s on our radar for this week? The London Design Festival is happening, Glue Amsterdam takes place, our new homepage and membership go live, and I’m visiting a new hotel in Utrecht and an interiors shop in Amsterdam. Stay tuned…
