SAINT-JEAN AMSTERDAM

In a corner building on the Lindengracht in Amsterdam Saint-Jean opened the doors not even a month ago. A must go for those of you who like (plant-based) pastries. But be warned: the pistachio cruffins are usually sold out at noon already!

Plant-based pastries

Yann Pierre-Jean has its roots on the French island of Guadeloupe but worked at Karl Lagerfeld in Amsterdam before he got obsessed by making perfect, and good-looking, plant-based pastries. He worked in Den Bosch at that time and when he was out-of-office he worked on creating cruffins (and more) nobody could resist. He started selling them via his website in Den Bosch, Eindhoven and Amsterdam and it got such a success that when he found this corner shop on the Lindengracht in de Jordaan everything came together and Saint-Jean was born.

Coffee and kombucha

They make several cruffins, croissants and other pastries, but you have to try the pistachio cruffin. Apart from that also sell different kind of coffees as they work with Moto Coffee (for espresso) and Dak Coffee Roasters (combines perfectly with the pastries) both from Amsterdam. And then they also serve Kombucha’s by Bain Brewing from Rotterdam.

Interior

The interior is warm with lots of wood, some Frama furniture and a stone table and side tables designed especially for Saint-Jean. Then there’s the name of the place. Yann’s grandmother’s surname was Saint-Jean, so it’s an hommage to her.
