OTWAY NEW YORK

For a superb food experience in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn you have to reserve a table at Otway.

Clinton Hill

Usually, people tend to visit Williamsburg or Dumbo when they are exploring Brooklyn, but there’s more to discover. The area around Fulton Street is definitely not that developed and hipster – it’s still a bit rough – but there are a few great places to visit. Like Otway, a small corner restaurant and bar that really stands out. Interior wise, but most definitely wine and food wise.

All-female team

Otway used to be Tilda All Day but it closed down due to a conflict between the three owners. Two of them stayed together – Claire Welle and Samantha Safer – opened Otway and turned it into an all-female kitchen.  Feminism is a big thing in New York nowadays. De Maria also has an all-female team and at Bulletin, you can buy quirky products made by and for women. Back to Otway though. Their menu consists out of unique and special dishes like whipped ricotta with pickled and roasted shishito peppers. Or the hanger steak with tomatoes, oregano, and potato.

Cheeses and cocktails

Save some room for the exquisite cheeses as a dessert. It almost feels like you’re dining in the South of France. Wines or on top too – just like the cocktails with names like ‘Farewell to Arms’, ‘The Devil went down to Georgia’ and ‘Media Noche’. Otway is also open during the day for coffee or lunch and at the weekends for brunch.
