In the same street as Earlymade and Rosa et Al you’ll find Epoca, a great place for breakfast and lunch.
“It’s one of my favorite places in Porto,” says Juan of My Home in Porto, “and it’s always full as it is so good.” And indeed: when I arrive around 11-ish the place is already quite full. The interior is beautiful with a lot of wood, Jean Prouve for Vitra chairs and round paper lamps. I spoke to one of the owners, Lily, who told me she worked at Relae, Baest and Mirabelle in Copenhagen before opening Epoca. They make all the pastries and bread themselves – a thing locals love as they buy their bread here.
As I’m not a local I had to try one of their lunch dishes with avocado, egg, cheese and herbs. It was delicious, affordable and I didn’t feel hungry anymore for the rest of the day. I’ve also ordered a sparkling elderflower drink which was really nice. If you only have time for one lunch in Porto, go here!
