Restaurant van Aken is located inside Het werkwarenhuis of Social Label in a former feed mill in Den Bosch. Social Label connects people with a distance to the labour market to big design names such as Piet Hein Eek and Roderick Vos. Together they make the most beautiful products like furniture, ceramics and fabrics. Petra Janssen and Simone Kramer started with Social Label in 2014, in 2015 they opened their Werkwarenhuis in this former feed mill – and painted all the walls pink. And two months ago Restaurant van Aken opened their too. When you’re having lunch or dinner at Van Aken the socially developed products come to life. The staff wears aprons made by Borre Akkersdijk (byborre), the food is served on beautiful plates by Edwin Vollebergh (studio Boot) and the furniture is designed by Piet Hein Eek. On the menu you’ll find delicious sandwiches, salads and on Friday and Saturday (when they serve dinner) you can expect a new menu based on the season. They also organize cool (design) markets.
