TRIED & TESTED
4-star hotel designed by Raphael Navot
14 July 2015
In a quiet side street between Rue Montorgueil and Rue Montmartre you will find the new Hotel Bachaumont. And it’s so new that the restaurant even officially opens its doors this week. The location is perfect: if you have a map of Paris you will see that it’s located right in the heart of the city. You’re within walking distance of the Louvre on one side and Le Marais on the other. But if you don’t leave the area around the hotel you won’t be disappointed either: COS and & Other Stories are neighbors, just like the exclusive perfumery Nose and several pretty good restaurants. The hotel has a rich history. Once it was a famous hotel with the same name and after that it became a hospital. Now the owner converted the large building into a hotel, restaurant and bar.
Upon entering you’ll find the bar to the left and the restaurant to your right. For those establishments the hotelier asked the help of the Experimental Group, who we already know from their Experimental Cocktail Bars in Paris, London and New York, La Compagnie des Vins Surnaturels in Paris, London and New York and the Experimental Beach Club in Ibiza (among others). You can be sure the cocktails are pretty damn good here. The bar is a nice place to hang out after a long day in the city. The restaurant menu consists of good French food. And the interior is done by Dorothee Meilichzon whose work we have seen in Hotel Paradis, Cafe Pinson and the new Grand Pigalle Hotel (more about that stunning hotel later this week). She opted for inviting couches in the bar: the perfect place to check your mail with a cocktail. And the restaurant is more chic. Don’t forget to take a look at the remarkable marble textile prints on the sofas and chairs: so pretty!
The long corridor leads you to the check-in desk where the elevator brings you to your room. The hotel has various rooms which all breath the same atmosphere but differ in colors and size. And in view: some of the rooms look out to a cute courtyard, others to the quiet street. The designer loves to play with headboards in the hotels she designed: giving the room a luxurious look. Luxury is important in Hotel Bachaumont: from the turn down service to the breakfast: everything is taken care of in perfection.
