Second restaurant by owners of Lode & Stijn
26 May 2015
Last week I was in Berlin to spot the most amazing addresses for you! And there’s a lot of them! Not always located on the obvious place, but those hidden places in a courtyard or somewhat out of the center are often the best right? Look at this restaurant in an old Citroen garage for example? Or this restaurant in an old chapel in Antwerp?
Check in at the hotel during my stay in Berlin: the 25Hours Hotel. A wonderful hotel overlooking the zoo. I heard hundreds of birds singing and could see the orangutans. The hotel rents bikes for free, and even MINI’s, so you can explore the city in a very relaxed way. Also around the hotel there’s plenty to explore: shopping at Other Stories for example, or eat the best sushi at the new Dudu31.
A stay in Berlin isn’t complete without exploring all the nice streets and hidden courtyards in Mitte. During my last visit to Berlin I didn’t stay away from The Barn Roastery, but now I found out tons of new addresses I recommend in The Berlin Guide. From super healthy cafes to a store dedicated to Paper + Tea.
Don’t forget to go to Kreuzberg and Neukolln. Those areas are a bit rougher than Mitte, but spread throughout these neighbourhoods you will find original shops, just like the Voo Store, markets like Martkhalle Neun en cafes such as Le Bon. In the evening I went to Lokal in Mitte for dinner, a minimalistic cafe where the menu changes every week. I’ve tried a salad with asparagus and strawberries and a delicious pasta as a main course. Highly recommended!
Because the hotel also rented MINI’s and I had to visit a great place on the other side of town (which is of course to be found in The Berlin Guide) I went by car. I really like driving and especially exploring new towns by car. Music on and go! For lunch I had a delicious ossobucco at NENI, the restaurant on the top floor of the 25Hours Hotel and after that it was already time to fly home.
All my favorite addresses which can make your Berlin trip outstanding, are published in The Berlin Guide (pre-order here and receive it on May 27th) and of course from this week on I will share some of them on Petite Passport itself too.
Have fun in Berlin!
